Alpha

Alpha may seem to be a strange choice given her limited screen time so far in season 10, but I feel its appropriate considering Alpha is the driving force behind the other characters’ actions this season.

Samantha Morton has embodied a version of Alpha that is terrifying and compelling in a way no other villain has achieved. Those who weren’t familiar with the actress before the character’s arrival on The Walking Dead got to witness her become a terrifying villain with an amazing presence. For once I am not just tapping my fingers waiting for the “Big Bad” to be killed off, she is far too intriguing a character for a quick end to her arc.

She’s not loud and obnoxious like Negan or putting on a facade of goodness like the Governor. She’s waging a war on the communities using espionage and mind games. Stoking their fears and ripping them apart from the inside.

We learned later in the first half that Carol’s suspicions were, in fact, correct. Alpha was behind some of the troubles that befell the communities, showing a patient approach to defeating her enemies.

I am looking forward to seeing her interact with Negan and with the hopefully eventual showdown with Carol.
