11. Ariel

Ariel is different because for most of the movie she is a mermaid! As a child seeing a mermaid and hearing her catchy songs was very mesmerizing. This is still one of those movies where you hear young children seeing the songs all the time, and even adults singing all the time! Alas, a catchy tune does not ensure your survival against walkers.

This movie much like Snow White has very odd choices. As a kid, I might have shrugged off the inconsistencies in Snow White, while Ariel I was really questioned. Very low on the judgment scale with her. I understand her father at times was quite insufferable, and she already had the dream of going to land, but making a deal with a sea witch?

Not just any deal, but one where she loses her voice. As a small kid I always wondered, being a mermaid would be so amazing, why would want to trade it and your voice away for a person you don’t even know! As an adult, it leans very heavily towards the fact she doesn’t know this prince and she’s giving away everything for him.

This is another princess I don’t believe can fight as well. This is where my last questions get a little tricky if there is no magic there almost isn’t the entire movie. If she was just a normal girl with the same general story it would be bland. Unfortunately, we are still not at a good survival level!
