Best TV Series – Drama

We all know that The Walking Dead’s ratings have dipped since season 6 and there are lots of explanations for why it happened, but the fact remains that the ratings were so high that even now, with “lower” ratings than ever before, the show still dominates Sunday night cable ratings and weekly ratings. That says a lot.

People love the show because it presents a picture of what life would look like when civilization collapses. The zombies are a footnote at this point because after so many years in the apocalypse, the more interesting story involves the interactions with other people. In The Walking Dead’s case, season 9 marked the arrival of the Whisperers, an event that forever changed the trajectory of the show as Alpha and her skin-wearing minions wreak havoc on the communities.

Simply put, there is no other show like The Walking Dead on television, and this complex post-apocalyptic drama explores the human condition in a way that no other show can. With so many rich stories between seasons 9 and 10, how could the show not be nominated for Best TV Series – Drama?
