Death Stranding, the hit game featuring Norman Reedus, came away with three wins at the 2019 Game Awards.

Death Stranding, an action game in which Norman Reedus plays main character Sam Porter Bridges, was nominated for multiple Game Awards. The 2019 Game Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 12th and Death Stranding won 3 of the awards they were nominated for.

The game was awarded The Game Award for Best Performance to Mads Mikkelsen for his portrayal of Clifford Unger, The Game Award for Best Score/Soundtrack and The Game Award for Best Studio/Game Direction.

This video shows Reedus’ appearance at the game awards, along with the nominations, he was also in attendance to present the award for Best Action game.

Death Stranding was a highly anticipated action game within the gaming community. It was released in November and it looks like it has been positively received. It is the first game from Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions after their disbandment from Konami in 2015.

Reedus is no stranger to video games, lending his Daryl Dixon voice to numerous Walking Dead themed games over the years. But, his experience in Death Stranding and working with the gaming genius Kojima was whole other level of gaming acting.

Guillermo del Toro, who gave Reedus his first action gig as well as his SAG card, told Reedus when he gets a call about doing a video game he should just say yes. Reedus was initially set to take part in Kojima’s Silent Hills game but after plans for that fell through that lead to the creation of Death Stranding. Reedus told Hollywood Reporter:

"“Then they came back and said Sony’s back in with Hideo and we’re going to make a brand-new game,” Reedus said. “I was more excited about that, to be honest, because Hideo came down to San Diego Comic-Con and had an iPad and was showing me some of the graphics he was working on, which were just mind-blowing. I knew it was going to be a home run right from the get-go.”"
