A Hatchet (Or A Knife)

Are you sitting down? Good. Now, I don’t want to shock anybody here, but, I have some bad news: In a zombie apocalypse, at some point…you’re going to have to fight zombies. I KNOW.

And, while some people will swear by a gun (Which is a useful too to have in a zombie apocalypse, I might add), the fact is, there are times when a gun just isn’t the right tool for the job of killing the dead.

In cases like that, you need a weapon that doesn’t need long range to be effective. Yes, you could use some kind of club (A hammer works well), but, when you’re in extremely close quarters (Which zombies love to do), even they can’t hold a candle to something like a good, sturdy blade that can kill a zombie nice and quick.

Perhaps bladed weapons’ greatest strength, though, is the fact they don’t need ammunition to work. For example, look at Rick in the Season Six midseason premiere, “No Way Out”: He slaughtered hundreds of zombies using nothing more than his hatchet and his unbridled rage. Where a gun might have jammed, or run out of bullets, Rick’s hatchet just kept right on going. Never stopping, never slowing down. You can’t underestimate the value of that kind reliability.

And, just for the person who enjoys efficiency (Like me), knives and hatchets have plenty of other uses that have nothing to do with zombies!

BOOM! Perfect Christmas gift.
