Radios/Walkie Talkies

I mentioned earlier that the internet won’t be available in a zombie apocalypse. And, while that might be true, that doesn’t mean that communication will become impossible. All you’ll need is a good pair of two-way radios or walkie talkies.

The great thing about these is that they don’t need things like the internet or a network of telephone lines to work. I know this because, as a kid, my brothers and I had walkie talkies, yes, they were toy ones, but still, the principle is the same and, more importantly…they worked.

My point is: If I could have walkie talkies as a kid, there’s no reason that you couldn’t get a pair now and share them with a friend or family member.

Sure, some of the more powerful ones might be expensive or otherwise tough to get, and, sure, you may need to get a battery or a generator to charge said walkie talkies in the apocalypse, but, you can still get some, and it’s not like generators don’t exist. They do. Even if you can’t have a more sophisticated long-range set up like Eugene is presently attempting to rig in The Walking Dead right now, you can still have some kind of (Relatively) long-range communication.

And, if you’re not in an apocalypse, maybe it’d be nice to just be able to play around with walkie talkies?
