A Car (Or Some Other Motorized Vehicle)

Is it unrealistic to suggest you buy a loved one a vehicle for Christmas? Sure, but, if the car companies can make stupid commercials every December with just that premise, I think I can get away with it.

Now, I imagine most of you couldn’t afford to do this (I sure as Hell can’t), but, if you could, honestly, a car is a pretty good thing to get someone for the Christmas before a zombie apocalypse.

Now, I might not pick a motorcycle as my first choice, in fact, if I had my way, I’d buy a Dodge Charger or a big truck and attach a massive conical plow to the front of it so I could push aside zombie and abandoned vehicle alike and not even worry about what was on the road, but…that’s just me. If you remember the massive roadblock the group ran into at the beginning of Season Two of The Walking Dead, you know how potentially useful a vehicle like those could be.

Of course, as when purchasing any vehicle, you need to be sure that the stupid thing is actually reliable, and won’t crap out on you or your loved one right when it’s most needed, like when you’re trying to escape zombies! So, it wouldn’t hurt to look up whatever car you’d want to buy and check see how reliable it is, whether it had any recalls (Getting critical repairs might be a little difficult), and how long the car typically lasts (Cars that have a reputation for staying out on the road longer than other models of the same year are a good bet).

Lastly, with any vehicle you use in a zombie apocalypse, you need to be able to attach defenses to it if possible, so that, even if it is still vulnerable to mechanical problems, you can at least minimize the chance those problems are caused by zombie guts gobbing it up.

If you have a friend or a family member who wants to be ready for a zombie apocalypse, maybe you should check this list and pick up a few items on it for them! Even if no zombie apocalypse comes, all of the things I’ve suggested can still be useful!
