The second episode from season 1 of The Walking Dead to ever air on AMC was exciting, but who didn’t make it out of the episode titled “Guts” alive?

Following a thrilling debut for the series on Halloween in 2010, The Walking Dead followed its pilot episode by not only giving fans a solution to Rick Grime being trapped in a tank but shed some light on his task to find his family.

This episode titled “Guts” aired on Nov. 7, 2010 on AMC and featured the introduction of several important characters to the show. Not only that, but it revealed to viewers that Rick’s wife and son are still alive.

Thankfully, there wasn’t a lot of death in this episode, but that doesn’t mean that it was without death and gore in several situations. Here is who died in episode 102 of The Walking Dead:

  • Walkers

That’s right! No human lives were lost in this episode, although several walkers bit the dust. Glenn’s daring rescue of Rick was one of the highlights, but the undead closing in on them forced them to take drastic measures.

“Guts” was the first episode where characters covered themselves in the innards of walkers to disguise their human scent. With that, they walked among the dead. One of the nice things from this episode was how the survivors paid tribute to the walker they cut open and used to camouflage themselves.

That man’s name was Wayne Dunlap. He had $28 dollars in his wallet along with a photo of a woman named Rachel and his identification card. Seeing the survivors showing thanks to a walker who helped them escape was quite interesting, considering that it isn’t really done anymore in the television franchise as a whole.
