2019 is almost over and it’s time to make resolutions for The Walking Dead characters in the New Year. Here’s what Daryl needs to do in 2020.

The Walking Dead has covered a lot of ground between seasons 9 and 10, and Daryl Dixon has taken on a larger role in the surviving communities since Rick’s loss. Not only has Daryl been worried about the threat of the Whisperers, but he has also been worried about his family and friends as they cope with the ever-changing threats around them. Here are some New Year’s resolutions for Daryl heading into 2020 and the second half of season 10.

When we first saw Daryl in 9A, he was living with Dog in the woods. We later learned that he was out there because he was trying to avoid having to admit that Rick was gone. It was Carol who brought him back, and almost immediately the Whisperers arrived, forcing him to step up and help Michonne and the Alexandria council in making decisions.

2019 was a big year for Norman Reedus as he and Melissa McBride became the last two original cast members on the show. Reedus enjoyed an expanded role between seasons 9 and 10 and that’s something we expect to continue into 2020.

Keep Supporting Carol

Daryl and Carol go hand in hand. They have been through a lot together and they will continue to fight together. Whether you ship them romantically or you celebrate their amazing friendship, The Walking Dead fans know that wherever Carol goes, Daryl will follow. And she needs him right now, more than ever.

The past year was very difficult for Carol and even though he might disagree with her decisions, like using Lydia to get more information from Gamma, they are such an amazing team and if anyone is going to take out Alpha and Beta, it would be Daryl and Carol fighting side by side.

Keep Your Cool

Daryl might not have a lot to say, but he is one of the most emotional characters in the entire series. If he didn’t care about the people around him, things might be easier for him. But Daryl does care, and that’s why his emotions sometimes get the best of him. He cares for Carol, so he followed her into the cave even though he might have stopped anyone else.

In the fight against the Whisperers, there is little room for snap decisions. Daryl needs to stay focused because Alpha is a formidable opponent who rules the chessboard with frightening efficiency. It won’t help things to get mad. Everyone is mad. Daryl is at his best when he’s mad and he’s focused, and that’s what he’ll need to make it out of the cave and to take out the Whisperers.

Keep Kicking Butt

Let’s face it – the big showdown the TWD Family is waiting for is the one coming between Daryl and Beta. Daryl has no love for Alpha’s hulking second in command and after they met in 10A it’s time to settle things once and for all.

Daryl is fighting for so much, and with Rick gone people look to him as one of the leaders of the communities whether he likes it or not. After all the survivors have been through, there has never been a threat like this before. He wants to take down the Whisperers and the horde because they’re a threat to the people he cares about, so he needs to channel his experience and his energy into eliminating this threat.
