Buzzfeed says The Walking Dead pike scene among TV’s best in 2019

There were many huge moments from The Walking Dead in 2019 but Buzzfeed can’t get over the Whispers creating their border wall in season 9.

Since 2010, The Walking Dead has been shocking viewers. Episodes like “The Grove” and “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” to “Too Far Gone” and “Pretty Much Dead Already” have left viewers stunned and shocked at what has happened to some of the most important characters.

The AMC zombie survival drama series hasn’t slowed down over the years, creating even more of the most notable and shocking moments in the history of the franchise. One of those came in season 9 when the Whisperers were introduced.

Recently, Buzzfeed released a list of 100 TV Moments From 2019 That We’re Still Not Over and one of those moments came to viewers courtesy of Alpha and her human-skin wearing group of followers.

Buzzfeed put a moment from season 9 episode 15 titled “The Calm Before” which aired on Mar. 24, 2019. That episode shocked viewers by showing that the Whisperers created a border wall as both a punishment and a warning to the survivors who continued to disobey the rules put in place.

That border was made up of ten heads on pikes, each of them being survivors captured and killed by Alpha’s group. The shock of seeing some long-term characters killed off in such a short period of time was not only overwhelming but also changed the scope of the story moving forward.

Sadly, Buzzfeed didn’t elaborate on why this chose this particular moment from The Walking Dead in 2019 to make their list, but it’s hard to argue its inclusion. While there are other great scenes from episodes like “Scars” and “Omega” this moment was highly discussed among fans online and avoiding the spoilers was exceptionally tough.
