There’s a new photo from The Walking Dead 10B showing Michonne and Virgil that might give some hints about how Danai will exit the show.
It feels like a long time since any news about the second half of The Walking Dead season 10B. The show has tight-lipped about what the second half of the season will hold for survivors, sharing only a small amount of information with fans.
Today, AMC allowed a look at Michonne from one of the episodes when the zombie survival drama series returns with new installments of the story and there are some things that can be observed from the image.
Here is a tweet from TVLine containing the photo of Michonne and Virgil from season 10B of The Walking Dead:
While the photo doesn’t reveal much it does show that Michonne and Virgil make it back to the old naval base on Bloodsworth Island where Virgil told the survivors at Oceanside his family lives. In the midseason finale, Michonne went to Bloodsworth Island with Virgil to take him home and to scour the old base for any heavy weapons that could be used against Alpha and the Whisperers.
Bloodsworth Island Range was an active US Navy shore bombardment and bombardment range for more than 70 years. The Navy used it primarily as a testing and training ground for the use of heavy weaponry like bombs, rockets, and missiles. It was shut down in 1995. But there’s a chance that there is still some weaponry stored there that the survivors might be able to use in their fight against Alpha.
There’s been a lot of speculation about Virgil’s storyline and if this is setting up Michonne’s exit. Danai Gurira is leaving the show and has limited appearances left in the series so it would make sense that this story arc would be a jumping-off point for Michonne since it’s unlikely they will kill the character off. Fans are hoping that whatever Michonne’s exit story is that it will lead her to reunite with Rick Grimes.
Virgil’s Role In Michonne’s Exit
The photo that was released by TV Line shows Michonne and Virgil looking around what is probably the unexplored parts of the naval base. Even though the trip is supposed to be a quick trip to deliver Virgil and get the weapons it’s likely that something will happen that will extend her journey and exit the series. Does Virgil know something about Rick Grimes? Or will there be some sort of conflict at the naval base where Michonne is taken prisoner and taken to the same place as Rick Grimes?
It’s hard to read what direction that writers will go in when it comes to writing a pivotal character like Michonne off the show. It’s also hard to imagine the final battles of the Whisperer War going down without her. But since it’s known that Danai has limited appearances left on The Walking Dead the other survivors may have to take down Alpha and the Whisperers without her.
