The road to The Walking Dead is heating up as conflict with the Whisperers is reaching extreme levels. Fans should not forget Rosita and why her storyline is so important to The Walking Dead for the current conflict.

Rosita has defining characteristics vital to surviving against the Whisperers. Her storyline is underrated since it defines how she has grown as a survivor and it leads to a road of uncertainty for the second half of the season of The Walking Dead.

The highlight moment for the first half of season 10 was Rosita and Siddiq’s interaction in episode 7 titled  “Open Your Eyes” and how she tried to comfort a distressed Siddiq. This moment was a full-circle moment that changed everything for Rosita.

Siddiq placed blame on himself and his grief over the loss of his friends at the hands of Alpha was very similar to what Rosita went through as she saw some of her friends get killed by Negan and other members of the Saviors seasons ago.

Rosita can relate to losing people to something in a traumatic fashion. Rosita’s anger and how she coped led to losing more people and put people in more danger. She wanted to help Siddiq to keep him level-headed in hopes he can resume his duties as a father and doctor, so they won’t lose anyone from his own coping with trauma,

She is not looking for a fight like before, but she is looking to survive with logic and reason. The irony is that logic during the first half of the season was blurred and there were many decisions made from Hilltop and Alexandria that signified no patience and making bad decisions.

The reason this is significant is that Rosita realizes that her actions have lasting effects. In this case, it is her daughter that is the saving grace for her revelation. If Rosita was a loose cannon and went after the Whisperers as she did for past threats, there is no going back.

Rosita was one of the first to know what the threat is and since then she seems to be the only one thinking before acting. She has grown as a survivor and is not the same one that was willing to pay a price for whatever she wanted to do.

The survivor decided there is no price worth taking for risking her own life anymore. She realized if there is a price to pay, it’ll be a bill left to a life that didn’t ask for it. Motherhood, after everything she has gone through, has been the biggest change to come for the resilient survivor.

With the Whisperers, there is a higher price to pay that no survivor can comprehend. Rosita’s lesson was timely for facing a group that smells blood in the water. She may doubt herself to some degree but with her skill set, that doubt will not last for long and it will, in fact, it will make her stronger than before.

The return of The Walking Dead is approaching and Rosita finally had a big breakthrough as a survivor, giving her the knowledge and skills to set the tone for the conflict ahead. Together, all of us will see what Rosita intends to do to keep herself going when season 10 returns on Feb. 23 on AMC.
