With fires raging out of control across Australia, Fear the Walking Dead actress Alycia Debnam-Carey posts ways for people to help.

Australian actress Alycia Debnam-Carey has been active on social media over the past few days, sharing information about the tragic wildfires burning out of control across the country and ways that people can help. The Fear the Walking Dead star is one of many people speaking out on the fires and urging people to help where they can.

The wildfires have been raging across Australia for weeks, pushing residents toward the coast and even out onto boats to escape the flames. As of this writing, close to 20 people have died and almost half a billion animals have been killed. Videos of thirsty koalas and fleeing kangaroos have been posted across social media as humans and animals seek refuge from the flames.

Debnam-Carey suggested donating to the Australian Red Cross and their partners if you are looking for a way to help:

She also spoke out about the harsh realities of climate change and its effects:

There’s no question that this fire will leave a lasting impact on the country, with far-reaching effects that we can’t even fathom yet. The fires have wiped out a large number of koalas and their habitat; experts believe over 30% of the wild koala population has been wiped out in one fell swoop.

Australia is known for hot summers, with windy conditions that make it a perfect storm for bushfires. While the occasional fire is common in summer, just as it is in the summer and fall in places like Southern California, the fires happening now are unlike anything the country has seen and there is no telling how firefighters will manage to get them under control.
