Fans are anxiously awaiting the premiere of the third series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Here’s an update from Scott M. Gimple.

The Walking Dead fans are in for a huge year. We have the back half of season 10 of The Walking Dead, as well as season 6 of Fear the  Walking Dead and then in April we will get a third installment calledThe Walking Dead: World Beyond. Many people are curious about crossovers and how the new series will line up and Scott M. Gimple shared some insight about that in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Since the shows are all taking place in the same universe, crossovers excite a lot of the fans. We have already seen things that link the original and the two spin off series, specifically the three-ring  on helicopters and the soldiers they have encountered.  Two characters have even crossed over from the original to Fear the Walking Dead.  It is wonderful to see The Walking Dead universe expand and show us very different sides of the same world. Gimple stated that the third series will take place a little behind the original but probably not enough for people to notice, which allows for the possibility of crossovers.

The newest series is set in Nebraska with not so much of an emphasis on that location as much as they are trying to show a very different life from what we have seen in Virginia or Georgia. This series focuses on a much younger generation, a generation that only knows life in the apocalypse.

Gimple shared that there might be a big aspect of crossover with one of the other shows.

"Though it is really cool to see how this different corner of the universe operates and the lives that they have been living all this time, it will be these little places that cross. We’ve been talking about aspects of next season of World Beyond. There might even be a big aspect of crossover with one of the shows. That’s the other part of it is we have these plans, but we’ve got to execute them. That’s sort of next season. We’re still finishing up this season."

Gimple also shared that the people in this new world we are going to see have been hidden behind their walls and living in a relatively first world atmosphere. For them to leave the protection of their walls is a big deal. One question I have is…what made them leave their walls?
