DJ (Matt Mangum)

The former Savior may not have been a character on our screens every episode, but his character growth is notable. DJ went from being a part of a group that took resources from people for their own gain to risking his own life to try and save the people kidnapped at the barn, some of who he didn’t even know.

Unfortunately for DJ, he met his tragic fate while trying to do the right thing. Had he survived, it is clear that he would play an important role in the conflict ahead.

We know that DJ is a capable fighter based off his time with the Saviors and his takedown of a few Whisperers in “The Calm Before.” This would land him a key spot in the ranks of the Aaron-led militia, and the fact that he already has Michonne’s trust means that DJ would be a valued member and leader of the troops.

It is sad that DJ’s time on the show was cut short, as it would have been intriguing to see how his character dealt with the Whisperers. At least, in the end, he went out as a hero – something very few would’ve thought possible given his origins as a Savior.
