Tammy Rose (Brett Butler)

As the oldest character we lost, Tammy Rose Sutton’s story is one of tragedy and heartbreak.
In the beginning of season 9, we saw Tammy lose her son Ken during an accident with horses out on the road. After the time jump, Tammy and her husband Earl wound up adopting the baby that the Whisperers left for dead when they came to get Lydia from Hilltop. Just when her life started to turn around with a new child, she was brutally murdered by Alpha.

While Tammy obviously wouldn’t be out on the front lines taking the fight to the Whisperers, she would serve as a mentor for those dealing with loss from the conflict. We saw her console Enid in season 9 when Alden went missing, and her bravery trying to defend Rodney in the barn right before her tragic end shows that Tammy’s motherly instincts take over more often than not.

Her role as a mother for the people of Hilltop wouldn’t just be figurative. Alongside Earl, Tammy would play an important role in raising her newly adopted son. Considering the fact that the Whisperers are the ones who abandoned the baby, Tammy would find her job as a mother that much more important. Raising the child to live a happy and healthy life would stick it to the evil group, proving to them that communities can survive and thrive in this new world – just ask Gamma how she is feeling about that right now.
