Fans are waiting anxiously for The Walking Dead 10B but behind the scenes season 11 is getting started as the writers start hashing out story arcs.

The filming of The Walking Dead season 10 only wrapped up a couple of months ago but the preparations for The Walking Dead season 11 are well underway. Today writer Kevin Deiboldt tweeted this image to commemorate the writers getting started on season 11.

Deiboldt has been co-producer on The Walking Dead season 10A and wrote one of the episodes that fans liked the most in 10A “Bonds”. Fans and critics alike have had a lot of praise for season 10 so far and judging by the trailer for 10B the intensity is only going to increase.

It may be tough for the writers to capture the same momentum going into season 11 but The Walking Dead has a pretty good track record of continually upping the ante on quality every season. The show has definitely changed in style and feel since Angela Kang took over as showrunner from Scott Gimple but those changes took the show in a new and better direction. Kang was the perfect choice to lead the show into the post-Rick Grimes era and the writers have done a fantastic job so far with season 10 so it’s exciting to think about what they will give fans in season 11.

Fans don’t really have any idea yet what season 11 will hold because they’re still waiting to see the resolution of the current story arcs in season 10 but it is known that Danai Gurira will be leaving so the writers will have a big challenge creating the same kind of compelling and amplified storylines they usually create without Michonne as a driving force. The return of Maggie may help to fill that void.

The Walking Dead 10B

While the writers get to work finalizing storylines for season 11 fans are anxiously waiting for season 10B will feature ramped up conflicts between Alpha and the Whisperers and the communities. Alexandria was already left reeling by the revelation that Dante was actually a Whisperer planted inside Alexandria by Alpha. They need to find out what he told her and find out if there are any more of her spies in the communities.

But first Carol, Daryl, and the others will need to try to make it out of the cave where they are trapped with Alpha’s horde. Coming up in 10B is the Whisperer War, Michonne’s exit, and the arrival of some new characters that will take the survivors to new places and launch them again into a bigger world when The Walking Dead returns on February 23rd.
