The Walking Dead, The World Before: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
6) Siddiq is the first member of the Coalition to turn since Kathryn (One of the ladies of Oceanside), back in Rick’s final episode, Season Nine’s “What Comes After”. I’m not counting the people whose heads got put on pikes because, well…they were just heads.
7) In a strange coincidence, as Siddiq’s walker encroaches on Coco, Dante tries to “reassure” Rosita by saying: “In nature, sometimes parents eat their young”. This is a condensed version of the analogy Gareth makes to Bob about bears eating their cubs while he and the surviving Terminants ate Bob’s leg back in Season Five’s “Four Walls And A Roof”. I wonder where Dante got that from…
8) This episode is first one to reveal that Gamma’s real name is Mary.
9) As Father Gabriel rewatches Dante’s interview upon joining the community (A holdover from Deanna), you can hear Gabriel ask Dante “How many people have you killed?”, one of Rick’s three questions the group started asking once they began taking in refugees at the prison, and became the standard by which all newcomers were judged, and, something not seen since Carl met Siddiq in Season Eight’s episode “The King, The Widow, And Rick”.
10) Was the backstory Dante provided in his interview a lie, or…was he just leaving out the fact that the group he’d only been with a few months were the Whisperers? I mean, Alpha did say he was new.
