1. He’s got skills, they’re multiplying.

Over the course of nine and a half seasons of The Walking Dead, Daryl has surprised a lot of people with his ability to track humans or animals, hunt in the wild, and survive based on what is around him.

His background in survival skills paid off again in a huge way when he used a lit match to determine the direction the airflow was moving in the cave. He used that information to determine the source of the air and move toward that opening in the hope of escape.

Not only that, but while Daryl was doing all of this, he was determining a plan to keep everyone together and shutting down the finger-pointing that was happening in the cave, particularly between Magna and Carol.

He really stepped up to be a leader in many ways in the cave. This is a big revelation for him since for the longest time he was either right beside or butting heads with Rick on topics. But now, it seems like he’s ready to be much more than just an individual and be a big part of the team.
