1. Rainbow in the dark

There are several things The Walking Dead has been criticized for in the past. Killing off doctors, eliminating the moral compass, shoddy CGI, and other things come to mind. But one thing the show does most often makes their scenes in the dark REALLY FREAKING DARK!

In our site’s spoiler-free review, Sarabeth made the suggestion that fans watch the midseason premiere at night with the brightness adjusted on the TV. Being the rebel that I am (or just a forgetful dolt) I forgot all about that when sitting down to watch.

Instead, I watched in the middle of the day with no adjustment and the dark scenes had me squinting at the TV while leaning ahead as if that would help to make the screen brighter. Spoiler: it didn’t really help.

For an episode channeling the film The Descent and action taking place in a dark cave, it’s obvious the show was trying to set a mood with this scene of bleakness and disparity. While it succeeded at that, a part of me just wishes it was a bit easier to see everything going on in that cave.
