Carol made another rash decision that got people hurt in The Walking Dead midseason premier episode, ‘Squeeze.’ Where does she go from here?

As much as we all love her, it is undeniable that Carol has been a loose cannon so far in season 10 of The Walking Dead.

Grieving over the loss of her adopted son, Henry, Carol will seemingly stop at nothing to exact revenge against Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, who took her son from her. The issue is that Carol’s quest for vengeance is putting others at risk.

This is not to say that Carol’s grief isn’t valid. Henry was part of her “fairytale” at the Kingdom that kept her happy for over six years. In a way, Carol may have seen Henry as an opportunity to have what she could not have with Sophia at the beginning of The Walking Dead: raise a child to be hopeful and kind-hearted rather than afraid because of the apocalyptic surroundings. With Ezekiel and Henry by her side, the royal family of the Kingdom gave Carol a level of happiness she never thought possible after all she had been through.

In ‘Squeeze,’ Carol attempts to get back at Alpha by destroying half of the Whisperer’s horde with a stick of dynamite. Carol and a group of survivors were already trapped in the cave because of Carol, so the fact that she continued to act recklessly without consulting anyone only further compounds her mistakes. When Carol accidentally drops the dynamite, the cave starts to collapse, with Connie and Magna ending up trapped inside. The few that made it out of the cave, pay no mind to Carol’s tearful breakdown, instead just leaving her behind as they try to make their way back home.

So what does Carol do next? People are done feeling sorry for her, as her thirst for revenge is putting even more of their loved ones at risk. Even Daryl, Carol’s best friend since the early seasons, seems to be done with Carol right now, having stormed off past her at the end of ‘Squeeze.’

It is time for Carol to realize the error of her ways and try to make amends in whatever way she can. She’s been warned time and time again that her rogue actions are going to get people, including herself, hurt. Her disregard for anything but making Alpha suffer has to come to an end. The people in the communities want Alpha dead just as much as Carol, and she needs to realize that.

The only way to take down the Whisperers for good is through careful planning and tactics. The survivors are outnumbered, but they can defeat the cult-like group if they act intelligently and unified. Carol needs to get on board with this and act alongside the rest of her friends rather than try and take matters into her own hands.

Carol absolutely should help to rescue Connie and Magna in whatever way that the group decides is best. The worst thing for her to do right now is feel so guilty that she does something stupid to try and make up for it.

Hopefully Carol can pull herself together and realize that the only way she is going to get true justice for Henry is by staying calm and playing it smart. Reckless actions like we have seen from her throughout season 10 are only going to cause more unintended pain and suffering for the people she cares about.
