4) One screw-up can lead to disaster.

I know that, sometimes, it seems like we’re one step from catastrophe. One missed phone call, one wrong turn, one task forgotten can cause us a mountain of headaches. Well, in a zombie apocalypse…that’s actually true.

Now, it’s not like that all the time, but, realistically, if you’re trying to survive in a world where the overwhelming majority of the population are walking corpses trying to eat you, yeah, some mistakes can be a teensy bit disastrous. Leave a gate open, make a loud noise, leave a fire going, things like this can go downhill on you very quickly.

And, that’s the thing: You have a much smaller margin of error in the zombie apocalypse. So many things have much higher stakes, and so, the mistakes you make can wind up with a much higher cost. The only way to avoid disaster is knowing what the important things really are, and doing everything in your power to get them right and to not make careless blunders.
