The first trailer for Jordan Peele’s refresh of the classic horror film Candyman dropped on Thursday, giving fans a look at Colman Domingo in action.

The legend of the Candyman is a tale as old as time, but instead of a fairytale this story is straight out of your worst nightmares. Horror master Jordan Peele is bringing an updated version of the Candyman story to the big screen with Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo rounding out an all-star cast.

Jordan Peele and Win Roselfeld penned the script for what is being called a “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 classic. With Nia DaCosta at the helm, the new Candyman will be a delight for horror fans and newcomers to the chilling tale of a neighborhood urban legend come to life.

Under Peele’s masterful eye, the new Candyman is sure to incorporate important modern-day social issues into the classic story to give it an even more powerful voice.

In the trailer we see the story of the Candyman’s past and present collide as Yahya Abdul Mateen II’s Anthony – yes the same Anthony who was abducted as a baby in the original film – returns to Cabrini-Green. Domingo’s character issues a warning about the neighborhood, but Anthony is drawn to it for reasons he can’t quite explain.

Apart from the bone chilling imagery, the trailer gets all of the awards for the most creative use of the Destiny’s Child song “Say My Name” for reasons we don’t have to list.
