Sunday night’s mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead left people hurt and broken and some possibly gone forever. How will Aaron handle what he had to endure in this episode?

The long-awaited mid-season premiere of the tenth season of The Walking Dead  has come and gone but there is still much to discuss. We saw Carol make decisions that effected them all and not in a good way. I really feel that Aaron acted like a true leader while they were trapped in the cave surrounded by Alpha’s horde.

Most recently Aaron has been having secret meetings with Gamma, Alpha’s third in command, and having discussions about life in the communities. Through their discussions she is surprised to learn that his life is so much better than her life with the Whisperers. During one of their encounters she confides in him that the baby that was rescued at Hilltop is her nephew. Then she tries to bargain for the opportunity to visit the baby by giving him the location of Alpha’s horde.

Aaron and the group that became trapped in the cave in this episode and had initially set out in search of Alpha’s horde. Aaron was using the information he received from Gamma. Upon their arrival at the location Aaron was shocked to see the horde wasn’t there. I believe he really thought he had gained her trust.

In the cave Aaron, along with the others had to literally fight their way out. In the cave they encountered walkers, Whisperers, and explosions. In true form, Aaron stepped up like the leader he has become. He did all he could to help where needed he even had a touching moment with Magna. We could see that he was visibly shaken when the cave imploded knowing his friends were still trapped inside.

Aaron has a lot going on his life. He is still grieving the loss of his friend Jesus, I am sure he feels betrayed by Gamma, he is probably worried about Lydia and where she has gone, and then he has his little Gracie to think of.

Aaron has a lot to bear but he is very strong. My hope for him is that he doesn’t give in to his grief and anger and allow it to take him over. Perhaps he can still save Gamma and bring her into the communities as a valuable member. He is a very good judge of character and he must have seen something in Gamma that made him think he could save her or use to the communities advantage. I am sure he will be instrumental in taking down the Whisperers.

He has a lot of pent-up anger and hatred towards Alpha and her crew. Let’s hope he makes the smart choice and doesn’t run off alone but holds tight with the rest of the group and they come together to take down their latest enemies.
