The Walking Dead episode 1010 “Stalker” unfortunately brought the end of a fan favorite character’s time on the show.

Losing a character on The Walking Dead is never easy, for both fans and actors alike. In “Stalker,” we saw Laura, a former Savior turned Alexandria council member, fall while trying to protect Gamma. In the aftermath of the episode airing Sunday night, fans across social media reached out to Lindsley Register, Laura herself, to share their sadness over her character’s departure from the show.

Introduced in season 7 as a key leader of the Saviors, Laura was initially meant to be an unlikable character. Fiercely loyal to Negan, she was the one who reported Dwight’s betrayal to the leader of the Saviors. Flash forward to season 9 and she’s now a member of the Alexandria council, working to make the right choices for the greater good of the same communities she was at war with.

In “Stalker,” Laura catches Beta right as he is confronts Gamma in the prison cell in Alexandria. While Laura could have just let the defected Whisperer suffer at the hands of Beta, she instead decided to confront Beta, allowing Gamma to escape and get help. Unfortunately, Laura was not able to hold off Beta for long, but she put up a hell of a fight that gave Gamma enough time to hide with Judith.

Lindsley Register took to Twitter to share some of her thoughts on saying goodbye to The Walking Dead and to give thanks to the fans who supported her during her time on the show. Her character may not have had the most screentime, but it’s clear that Register left a big impact on fans with her incredible performances whenever Laura showed up.

Laura’s growth from villainous Savior to key member of Alexandria who sacrificed herself for the community shows exactly why we all love The Walking Dead. Just because people are on the wrong side of a conflict in the show doesn’t mean that they should be given up on. In a world full of the undead, people need to retain their humanity and rely on each other to survive. This was the kind of future that Rick fought for at the end of All Out War, and I’m sure he would’ve been proud to see how a former Savior became an important member of Alexandria.

All the best to Lindsley Register in her future endeavors – the #TWDFamily will always be there to support!
