The Walking Dead episode “Stalker” featured many unforgettable moments. It is important that we do not overlook Rosita and her choices in this episode.

Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos) has had her share of heartache during her time on The Walking Dead. She lost Abraham and most recently Siddiq. She now has a daughter to think of so her reckless behavior of seasons past can no longer happen. She was terribly distraught during most of episode 1010 but in the end she made wise decisions for herself and for the sake of her daughter.

Since Siddiq’s death, Rosita has been having nightmares about Whisperers trying to kill not only her but her daughter Coco as well. She was understandably upset about these dreams and still reeling from the death of Siddiq, who was killed by a Whisperer. When Mary (formerly Gamma), one of the Whisperers, comes to gates of Alexandria it is too much for Rosita to handle so she knocks her out cold and orders her to be put in the jail cell.

Between this altercation and Father Gabriel’s interrogation of their new prisoner, Rosita is an emotional wreck. She doesn’t feel that Mary can be trusted especially after they just put their trust in Dante, who turned on them and killed Siddiq. When Mary shares what she knows with the leaders at Alexandria, Rosita is still very reluctant to trust what she says.

When the time comes for the rescue teams to head out Rosita rethinks going along with them. She knows she isn’t in a good place and leaving in her emotional state would just get someone hurt or killed.  This was a smart move for two reasons. First, she is a mother and if she and Father Gabriel die, Coco becomes an orphan. Secondly, she wouldn’t have been there to help protect Judith and RJ from Beta.

Ultimately Mary saves Rosita’s life by giving Beta what he wants: Her to come back to Alpha with him. Rosita now believes Mary’s words to be true, which causes her to rethink her opinion of Mary.

The morning after Beta’s attack, while getting everyone together to head to Hilltop for medical care, Rosita officially meets Mary and shakes her hand. It was an integrity move on Rosita’s part to show that she was mistaken in not trusting Mary.

Rosita was introduced to us way back in season 4 when she was traveling with Abraham and Eugene and they came across Glenn and Tara. Since that time Rosita has proved herself to be a fighter but hasn’t always chosen to think before she acts. This episode showed her in a different light and hopefully Rosita decides to go with this new direction in her life.
