The Walking Dead former Savior Negan is now Alpha’s constant companion, does this mean he has replaced Beta as her Number 2?

Negan is once again taking command on The Walking Dead and fitting back into his old way of life before the Saviors fell. His swagger is back, his bat is back, and he is sporting his new skin mask. Once again, he is spewing out witty comments and his arrogant ways have reared their head. After his recent freaky deaky with Alpha he seems to be right by her side. Where does that leave Beta? Is he no longer Alpha’s number 2?

Alpha is an extremely cunning villain. She has an intuition in overdrive that allows her to anticipate what their next moves will be three steps ahead. She knows Beta is her soldier that will do her bidding, always. She also sees Negan and what he really is.

Although he is smart and insightful in his own right Alpha is smart enough to see that he needs supervision. She is keeping him by her side to not only rely on his knowledge but to also keep a close watch on someone she is sure to see as a loose cannon.

Beta is a machine and will always do what is best for the Whisperers. He is severely damaged emotionally which gives him an unsympathetic look at everything. He has no remorse for things he does, and he will remain loyal to Alpha until the end. Negan has some of those same qualities but his time in the cell has made him softer than he once was.

Alpha might be keeping her eye on Negan, but she put Beta as her number 2 because she knows power and strength when she sees it. Negan might be who she is keeping close to at the moment, but she knows in the end Beta will be the last man standing.

And, Negan does have something up his sleeve as far as the community residents are concerned. He is trying to redeem himself for all that he has done while being the leader of the Saviors. When he mentioned to Alpha ahead of the battle that she could capture people and turn them to her side that was his way of trying to avoid the deaths of people at Hilltop.

Alpha will continue to keep Negan close to keep her eye on him. After all he is new to the group even though he has proved himself loyal to her she has to be cautious to keep her group and her horde safe.
