4) Always have an exit strategy. And then…at least two more.
You know, for a minute, it looked like Daryl and the militia were going to repel the Whisperers, that was until the pine tar attack, and then…it all went pear-shaped.
Then, things managed to get worse, because, as Hilltop’s defenders attempted to retreat, they were surprised by a wall of flames, essentially boxing them in against Alpha’s horde.
This was all borne out of a failure to do something I’ve been saying forever: Have a backup plan.
Even if you think you’ve got things planned out perfectly in your war strategy, there is always the possibility the enemy may use a tactic you were not expecting (Like the fire attack…somehow) and throw a big ol’monkey wrench into your perfectly crafted plan.
So, when marching off to war, you’re going to need several backup plans for how you’re going to live to fight another day if things go bonkers on you and you’re forced to make a quick retreat. If you don’t think ahead to how your enemies might try to trap you, should it happen, you’ll have to try to think up a plan on the fly while your enemy is in the midst of laying the smackdown on you.
Always, always, always remember to have multiple backup plans, because you never know when you might need them.
