Talking Dead cancelled for March 15, future dates TBD
Talking Dead is the latest show to shutter out of an abundance of caution as concern over the novel coronavirus shuts down Hollywood.
Hours after AMC announced that production would stop on Fear the Walking Dead season 6 filming and push pre-production work on The Walking Dead back 3-4 weeks, Talking Dead announced that it will be dark on March 15 and the show’s immediate future has yet to be determined.
The March 15 episode of Talking Dead would have followed season 10 episode 12 of The Walking Dead, “Walk With Us”. The episode is sure to be huge as the battle to defend Hilltop rages on.
Tom Payne, TWD alum and star of The Prodigal Son on FOX, was slated to appear on the couch along with two surprise guests. After such a massive episode, it’s no wonder that there could be surprise guests to help break down the episode.
With the concern over novel coronavirus shutting down television and movie productions across the country along with the cancellation of all major sporting events, it is not surprising that the decision to cancel Talking Dead followed news of filming and pre-production breaks for Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead. In these uncertain times, having our amazing cast and crew safe and healthy is much more important than having them travel to Los Angeles.
There had been speculation that perhaps the aftershow would continue without a live audience, especially given that many late-night talk shows have been airing without an audience over the past few days. Now that a national emergency has been declared, though, it makes sense to keep people safe and not have the Talking Dead crew arrive to work if they do not have to.
With that in mind, you can count on your friends here at Undead Walking to help you through Sunday’s episode. The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC and we’ll have full coverage following the East Coast broadcast.
