2) Sometimes, you have to give up the things you want the most.

Carol, by her own admission, has kind of made a mess of things this season. It has been a constant since the season began that Carol has wanted nothing more than to see Alpha dead. It has also been a constant that Carol has wanted that so badly that she has become incredibly reckless, risking, essentially, everyone’s lives just to get rid of Alpha.

First, during a meeting between the communities and The Whisperers, Carol attempted to blatantly assassinate Alpha, which only accelerated the latter’s efforts to destroy Hilltop and Alexandria. Then, she lies to Daryl so she can try to snatch a Whisperer to interrogate him. Then, when she and Daryl’s task force make their way to Alpha’s horde, she chases after Alpha the moment she spots her, and winds up getting the whole team trapped in a cave, which, once Alpha escapes the cave, she decides she’s going to forego the slow method, and just unleash what’s left of the horde on Hilltop, which results in countless people getting killed, and many more lost.

You see, in a zombie apocalypse, you can’t go around being reckless like that, not if you’re part of a group, anyway. A group is supposed to look out for each other, in order to ensure that they all survive, but, if one member is going off doing whatever the hell they want, regardless of how much risk it puts everyone else in, maybe (Not always, but, maybe) it’s time you gave up whatever it is you want, at least until it doesn’t risk everyone else in trying to get it.
