In The Walking Dead 1013 we say goodbye to a long time fan favorite. This cinematic masterpiece only allows the possibility of one MVP!

In The Walking Dead “What We Become” we are forced to part ways with our warrior goddess Michonne. We also get more of an insight into Virgil as well as say goodbye to him in a seemingly permanent way. We meet a few brand new characters as well get a glimpse of what looks to be a new Oregon trail. However let’s be honest, there is only one character worthy of the MVP crown in this episode:

This weeks MVP is Michonne

The Walking Dead 1013 was all about Michonne’s exit and she was a bright, spectacular star throughout the entire episode. There is no denying she is a strong leading female character, and losing this amazing force in the show will be a huge loss. With an episode solely focusing on her, she easily becomes the MVP with no contest.

Viewers have known since Rick’s exit that he was not dead, fans may not know his fate but we know he is alive somewhere in The Walking Dead universe. The characters in the show, however, have had no earthly idea; while it’s true his body was not found, the unfortunate most likely outcome after what everyone saw was that Rick was dead. They have now been without him for well over 6 years.

Michonne seeing his boots, and the drawing of her and Judith, was a punch to the gut for her and viewers, leaving emotions all over the place. Elation because he is out there, worry for what he is going through, guilt for not finding this sooner. However, Michonne managed to not slaughter Virgil and everyone else trying to find answers, after everything she was put through, that restraint for anyone is impressive.

Michonne also gets a few extra diamonds added to the MVP crown for at first being hesitant to search for Rick, because she wanted to stay with her children. This showcases just what a wonderful mother she is. Imagine being in her shoes and finding out the love of your life and the father of your children is alive after all that time? Some people wouldn’t give leaving a second thought with all the resources she has.

Michonne, of course, handled walkers and Virgil’s other prisoners with ease, and she was able to get Virgil back to a more stable head space. She has awful visions of what life would have been like if she never saved Andrea after being drugged and was kept in a small room yet still was calm and collected in the end after it all.

This character is one that will never be forgotten within the universe. She is MVP and queen crown worthy in every single way. She is a fierce protector, a loving mother, an amazing friend, and a noble leader. The show will be forever changed without her presence, let’s just hope we get to hear some radio calls with Judith in the future!

This MVP wouldn’t be complete without my 2 honorable mentions and those are Judith and Rick Grimes! Judith for being so mature, and telling Michonne to go for it. She could have freaked out, admitted everything she did during the Hilltop battle and told Michonne to come home and she would have. Instead, she put those feeling aside and told her mother to find the brave man.

Rick Grimes! Rick didn’t have to be present in the current timeline to earn this honorable mention. While leaving the boots behind may have been a necessity, he drew a photo of Michonne and Judith. This proves he hasn’t lost hope to see them again, he is out there wanting his family just as much as they want him and that is such a beautiful thought. In this episode, he would happily give Michonne the MVP crown she deserves!
