In The Walking Dead 1013 we are thrown through a trippy alternate timeline for Michonne. Let’s dive into all the reasons why this goodbye was so shocking.

The Walking Dead “What We Become” is an absolute masterpiece. We follow the entire journey of our beloved character Michonne and see just what events molded her into the amazing woman she becomes as a result of this long journey. Nearly every corner of this episode is packed with jaw-dropping events so we have a lot to unpack.

Within this episode, we get to meet and learn about brand new characters, and a brand new place. While it’s a story we end on a bleak note, it’s always very interesting to explore what we haven’t seen before. Viewers are always wrapped up in the here and now for the main characters of our story so opening those blinders can be refreshing.

Since “What We Become” contains a story packed to the brim with events, it’s only right we get three honorable mentions. They didn’t quite make the cut, but they are still important to mention. Beginning this small list is the lie Judith told Michonne. It’s very true Alpha can’t hurt them anymore, since she is dead. However Beta is still alive, and enraged and more walkers can be wrangled. So while we all appreciate Judith’s blessing, this tall tale might have bad repercussions even if it is just guilt for Michonne.

The second moment to make the small list is Virgil staying behind. Much of Virgil’s sad story is revealed during this episode and many crazy events take place because of him. After everything, he put others through just to stay behind is a major WTF moment. Does this mean he has a chance to show back up in The Walking Dead? Only time can tell us that.

Last but certainly not least, is the fact nobody other than Judith and RJ knows about Michonne leaving and the possibility of Rick being alive. Michonne’s send-off was epic and should have been focused nearly all on Michonne and not others’ emotions but after putting us through the scary alternate timeline, please let us see that her people do care! Hopefully, we get to see a glorious moment where Judith tells the others in a future episode.

Now let’s get into the moments that floored the fans and left us in tears!
