4. Virgil’s actions

Whenever new people are introduced into The Walking Dead, viewers are immediately skeptical. Rightfully so, unfortunately, we have met some awful people during these 10 seasons. Virgil was no different after his story slowly unraveled during 1013 we can say the bad he did, outweighs any upside he has given us. He might not be evil, but fans don’t seem to want him to stay around.

Viewers also weren’t too keen on learning more about him in Michonne’s final episode, but his story was very pivotal to show how far Michonne has come and the person she is. Michonne learns throughout 1013 that Virgil was the reason his family died, and he had others locked up. She also had to go through being drugged by him, which was horrific. Yet in the end, she forgives him.

It speaks volumes to who she is, with so many viewers taking to social media saying, “Michonne kill this man,” she sees something in him and asks for his life to be spared. What happened to her while she was under the influence of jimsonweed was incredibly tough to watch, and to be in her shoes it would have been easy to go the route of taking a life.

Virgil also lied or rather didn’t say the entire truth, about his family. Just a few minutes into episode we learn that his family is dead and he asks Michonne if she would help him finish the job. Some characters might have turned and gone home right then. Perhaps the biggest WTF to be taken from what Virgil did, is how the zombie apocalypse can affect your mental health and strain your rational thinking.
