2. Alternate timeline events

This was one of the hardest things viewers have ever had to watch, and even though it wasn’t real, it still felt like The Walking Dead punched us in the stomach, with a cinder block. Not only did we have to witness Michonne get drugged in the episode, something already very tough to watch. We had to also watch her entire family be taken from her. Much like Michonne vomiting up the jimsonweed, it was sickening to see what life could have been like for her with one tiny change.

This was also the perfect example of why sometimes characters that are far from fan favorites can be so important and needed in a story. Would fans take Andrea out, knowing what they do now? Is not having Andrea worth losing everything Michonne can be to us? Andrea doesn’t need to be a fan favorite to be necessary for this story. She meant something to Michonne and that is what matters.

It was so jarring to see Michonne be abandoned on the side of the road with the orange backpack and to join the saviors in her time of need. Then to see her become Negan’s right-hand woman left fans gobsmacked. PHEW! The Walking Dead did not have to put viewers through the infamous line up again especially with Michonne wielding the bat. At this point, viewers felt like they had taken the jimsonweed.

Unfortunately, it only gets worse from there, after seeing savior Michonne we have to witness her death at the hands of Daryl and Rick. WTF! For a scene to only be a dream, this was very impactful. To see Rick and Michonne go from being best friends and soul mates to not only adversaries but trying to kill each other? Avert your eyes for this scene, don’t put your heart through that pain.
