Members of The Walking Dead cast and crew have shared their tributes to Danai Gurira, but Andrew Lincoln’s tribute takes the cake.

Richonne. Rick and Michonne. Has there ever been such a powerful apocalyptic force? Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira shared a special bond on The Walking Dead and it’s no wonder that Lincoln wanted to celebrate Gurira’s departure in a very special way.

Gurira shared a video from Lincoln on her social media. The three minute video features Lincoln playing the piano, singing and talking to the camera.

She captioned the video as “An Ode from Andy” and added that “this means a lot. Made me laugh and cry. Thank you so much Andy! (Great vocals! And piano skills! Is there anything this man can’t do?!!!) You are one of the most incredible human beings on the planet. I’ll cherish the journey with you and the whole #TWDFamily always.”

The video begins as Lincoln plays the Paul McCartney song “Live and Let Die”, changing the lyrics to say “We love you Danai” instead of “Live and Let Die”.

He continues to share the story of when he first met Michonne at the gates of the prison. “Ricky Do Dah Grimes” wasn’t sure about the sword-wielding stranger who fainted at the gates, but Carl wanted to help her. When he picked her up, he ended up dropping her and then falling on top of her, for which he is sorry and eternally embarrassed.

Lincoln congratulates her on “an incredible character, an incredible achievement”, heaping praise upon the actress before returning to the piano to sing about the “Zombie Paradise” (sung to the tune of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise.” He finishes with a quick “love ya!”

There’s no question that the cast of The Walking Dead have lived through something very special together and any time that they lose a cast member, especially a longtime cast member, it is an occasion to celebrate together. Gurira’s exit is sad and she will be missed, but there’s every reason to believe that Michonne’s future is still very bright and that a reunion with Rick could be on the [distant] horizon.
