The Walking Dead 1014 recap: Look at the Flowers
Eugene, Yumiko and Ezekiel are on horseback. Eugene wonders if the new community would have candy because the adjacent railroad tracks remind him of his mother, who gave her chocolate bunnies. Yumiko hopes they’re not on the road looking for chocolate bunnies. Ezekiel didn’t laugh, and he says he’s not the best audience.
They come across some walkers in a cage. It’s not the Whisperers usual moves, so they pause to check it out. Ezekiel stops and fights off two walkers. He starts coughing, though, and when more walkers come he’s nearly overrun. He manages to fight them off and then he sits for a moment. Yumiko gives the all clear and Ezekiel hurries to join her.
Daryl looks at the mask while Negan walks ahead of him, tied up. Negan tells Daryl that he was in a similar situation with Alpha, too. Negan knows Daryl is upset that Carol didn’t tell him about her plan. Daryl tells him that a bunch of kids almost died at Hilltop because of Negan, who stops and turns to look at him with an anguished look on his face. “Keep walking,” Daryl says, giving him a shove.
That night, Beta turns on a record. It’s him. He’s Half Moon. The music draws the dead to the building.
Carol tries to get a boat down while Alpha taunts her about not being able to find peace while she was on the ocean. She even wrote a letter about Alpha to Maggie. Alpha demands to know if she’s listening, and she falls though the floor, with the boat crashing down on top of her.
Negan leads Daryl to the pikes and the head is gone. Daryl has his crossbow ready as Negan tries to explain that they should wait for Carol. You can hear the desperation in his voice. Negan says he was worried about Lydia and used her as bait to draw Alpha out alone. Daryl doesn’t like how long it took, but Negan points out that he wasn’t on a suicide mission.
Suddenly Whisperers walk out of the woods with guns. They say that Negan was the one who killed Alpha, so he’s the new Alpha. They kneel before him, and Daryl drops his crossbow. Negan laughs delightedly.
