The Walking Dead 1014 recap: Look at the Flowers
Negan drinks water. Daryl’s newly painted wing is on display as the two men sit beside each other facing opposite directions. Negan says he doesn’t think Carol is coming back. He’s not messing with Daryl, and Daryl knows it. He admits that when he told Daryl he liked it, he wasn’t acting.
When they locked him up, he lost everything and spending seven years in that cell was awful. Alpha taking her in was new, and nice when he got respect. But Alpha went too far. You don’t kill people who don’t deserve to die, and you never kill kids. Daryl says that won’t make him like him anymore, and Negan teases him about his winning personality. Daryl walks away, and Negan asks about Carol.
Later, Carol approaches the gates at Alexandria and Daryl is there to open them. She walks past him, in silence.
The travelling gang ride into the city and discover that it’s empty save for complex tableaus set up with walkers serving as the actors. They have been chained up in funny but realistic situations, like in cars and restaurants. The meter maid scene makes Ezekiel laugh hysterically.
They continue on through the strange city until they come upon a walker body wearing a feather boa. Suddenly a woman dressed in bright colors pops out. “OH MY GOD HI!” she yells enthusiastically.
Folks, meet Princess!
Back in the other town, Beta looks at the note again as the record continues to play. Walkers are outside the window. He takes Alpha’s head from the sack and looks at it. He thanks her. “I see now,” he says. He slides the knife into her head, silencing her for good, then he puts his forehead to hers.
Later, Beta walks out of the saloon and the walkers rush past him, but then they turn to follow him. He looks up as they fall into position behind him and now he has Alpha’s skin mixed into his mask.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
