On the latest episode of The Walking Dead, Paola Lázaro made her grand debut as Princess! Let’s break down what made her entrance so iconic.

The Walking Dead season 10 episode 14 gave fans an introduction to a bright new character named Princess played by Paola Lázaro. She may have only spoken 4 words, but she has already captivated the fan base. To understand her entrance more, viewers must acknowledge the build-up to this point.

Princess and her grand entrance wouldn’t have been the same without seeing what Eugene, King Ezekiel, and Yumiko went through to get to her. In 1014 viewers see these three characters saying tearful goodbyes to their loved ones and the undertone heading out is somber. They are torn down emotionally after Hilltop has been demolished. Their journey to Stephanie doesn’t get any easier when King Ezekiel must put down his horse. They are broken and driven by the hope for a better future.

When they make it to a major city and start their trek through the quiet streets, they come across a very peculiar sight: Walkers posed in various ways, dressed to the nines, looking like they are enjoying the undead life! Note the lovely pink and purple color scheme going on. While the sight is puzzling at first, King Ezekiel ends up doubling over from laughter, while Yumiko and Eugene seem to be horrified.

Then, the survivors stumble upon quite an excited lady. This is Princess, who arrives on the scene shouting “Oh my god, hi!” During the apocalypse, this is a brand new style of greeting. Normally when new characters arrive they are wary or hostile because nearly everyone has come across something awful. Yet Princess seems to be very welcoming and genuinely excited about seeing new potential friends.

Coming directly from a storyline filled with silent threatening Whisperers, death, and destruction, this could be the character fans all need for a smile! Paola Lázaro certainly has her comic book counterpart’s look perfect with her iconic pink fuzzy jacket and purple hair. The larger than life personality is translated on-screen perfectly as well.

With only 4 words spoken thus far, her character is capable of going any direction, but the set up is certainly there for her to share the same friendly qualities as comic book Princess.

No matter what direction this character takes, this is an introduction fans will be talking about years to come. Not only are the demeanor and look of Princess unique, but dressing the undead and posing them is something up for interpretation. This could paint her as someone too far gone to some viewers. However, the fandom is now very intrigued by having new royalty on the show. Welcome to The Walking Dead family, Paola Lázaro!
