4. Negan is the new Alpha

The Whisperers bowing to Negan and calling him the new Alpha was quite a sight for fans watching. Most viewers were caught completely by surprise since one of the first scenes in 1014 was Beta being called the new Alpha. Whisperers are allowed to challenge Alpha for the throne but in a time like this, there is natural confusion. The Whisperers do not seem to communicate by walkie or stay together at all times, so there might be some that have no idea Alpha is gone.

The Whisperers function much like a cult would, and in a cult, there are strict rules you have to follow. A leader creates the future for cult members and free-thinking tends to be punished. 1014 shows the outcome of having your own thoughts: death. When Beta is called the new Alpha, he is appalled and sacrifices the one who spoke to his Alpha.

When Negan and Daryl collide with a few whisperers, knowing that some feel Beta is now ruler fans are worried about what is about to ensue. Bowing was not an option in the viewer’s mind. However, it does make sense since the Whisperers likely saw Negan’s actions as challenging their Alpha as the ultimate power move.

Since it was obvious from that point forward that Negan was not going to kill Daryl, this is probably the most humorous WTF moment included on this list. Negan compared the shotgun to a baby and made some jabs at Daryl before killing the Whisperers. Still, the initial bowing had social media lighting up.
