Michael Rooker celebrates turning 65 with an encouraging Instagram post
By Renee Hansen
Birthday wishes go out to Michael Rooker who is celebrating a big milestone. He commemorated the big day with a revealing Instagram post.
The Walking Dead fans will never forget Michael Rooker’s portrayal of Merle Dixon. He was a character you loved to hate who, in the end, tried to redeem himself. Rooker turned 65 years old on April 6 and shared a great Instagram photo embracing what he calls “backside of this crazy world.” Using additional language, we have come to expect from Rooker. His bare-it-all photo shows a man confident in his skin and not looking too bad for a 65-year-old man. Bravo!
Merle was part of The Walking Dead’s famous Dixon Brothers. Daryl (Norman Reedus) was the other and more docile half of this duo. Rooker and Reedus are good friends in real life and are always fan favorites when they attend cons that offer photo ops of them together.
Rooker recently appeared on an episode of Reedus’ show Ride with Norman Reedus. Below is a fantastic scene from that episode. This scene encapsulates what The Walking Dead family is all about. Greg Nicotero gifts Rooker with something extraordinary from the show. And, Reedus moves Rooker speechless with his words to the actor and friend. It is a fantastic look at how The Walking Dead brings people together and what family really means.
Fans loved Rooker as Yondu Udonta in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Yondu is listed on Rooker’s IMDB in a series called What if… which is a series that takes a look at certain Marvel Cinematic Universe moments and considers what if it didn’t happen that way. He also has some exciting new projects listed on his IMDB page. Monster Problems, which is listed as an action-comedy, F9, which is another installment of the Fast and Furious world, and The Suicide Squad, but it isn’t listed who he will play in this movie.
It is always fun to keep tabs on our former Walking Dead cast members. Rooker keeps bringing us new projects, so it will be interesting to see what is working on next.
