After watching the latest episode of The Walking Dead, one thing stood out to me: Lying to other people (And yourself) in a zombie apocalypse is a bad idea.

It was in The Bible that we first saw the phrase “The truth shall set you free.“, and, after two thousand years or so, for the most part, it has proven correct, and will continue to even in a zombie apocalypse.

However, in this week’s episode of The Walking Dead, we saw a decent bit of people…not doing that. Between people lying to other people (Like Princess), or lying to themselves (Come on, guys, just because Alpha’s dead doesn’t mean The Whisperers are gone), I felt like it was a pretty good lesson to impart to everyone this week.

I could, if I wanted to, go on about truth as some sort of universal virtue, but, this is about survival rules, so, I’m not here for lofty treatises on truth as a concept, but, rather, the practical reasoning behind why you should stick to the truth when you find yourself in a zombie apocalypse.
