5. Lydia slams Negan

During season 10 of The Walking Dead, Negan and Lydia have had an interesting relationship. When the story hands us Lydia, it is during the time Negan can be outside of the cell doing small things around Alexandria. They immediately gravitate towards one another as both are outcasts because of their shady origin stories. Despite all of the nasty looks and comments that were given to them, they stick around and a sweet friendship blossoms.

Viewers see Negan coming to her aid when she is harmed by others and they talk occasionally without judgment. It is very easy to tell that they care for one another. So when Negan kills Alpha, after the initial celebration from fans, everyone wants to know about the reactions to the slaying. Lydia is quite high on the list being that Alpha was her mother.

Negan killing Alpha to most is a very joyous time, fans and characters both breathing a sigh of relief and rejoicing, but not Lydia. This poor child has been through so much growing up with a mother like Alpha, basically just a life full of abuse. Then one of the first people who is kind to her, Negan, kills her mother. It’s something that she understands but it’s so hard to cope with. She knows why, but Alpha was still her mother.

This moment makes the list not because of her hitting Negan and letting her feelings out. Fans all sympathize with her there. Rather it’s the comment she made to Negan initially: “Most of us wish you’d died too,” was a punch to the gut. While some fans might agree with the comment, it still deserves a place on this list based on how jaw-dropping it felt when said.
