3. It’s your superpower

Connie started off the season in style, with a wonderful scene in the premiere (“Lines We Cross”) that not only perfectly encapsulated her relationship with her sister Kelly, but also gave us a real insight into what is at the core of Connie’s self-belief.

While Kelly is struggling with her hearing deteriorating, Connie is there to reassure her that she will help her through it, lead her forward, and reminds her that her hearing loss is her “superpower!”. It’s a conversation that was taken from Angel Theory’s own life, and is made into a wonderful empowering but light speech in Lauren Ridloff’s hands.

Connie won’t let her sister see herself as less than, and in Connie, Kelly has an amazing role model in how to handle life in the apocalypse with hearing loss.

It also lays a foundation for later in the season as Kelly passes on the wisdom about your perceived weaknesses being your superpower to Carol, showing Connie’s influence pervades the season even when she’s not on screen.
