Gabriel

Father Gabriel has come a long, long way from when he was first introduced in season 5.

Gone is the cowardly priest who locked people out of his church out of fear. In his place is a leader of Alexandria who has conviction when making tough decisions. While this character growth is inspiring to see, it does mean that Gabriel has a bigger responsibility when it comes to keeping others safe.

As the main leader of the people currently trapped in the hospital, it may come down to Gabriel having to sacrifice himself for the others. His focus is on making sure that everyone survives this final battle, and Gabriel would, without a doubt, do whatever it takes to make that happen – even if it costs him his life.

In addition to the in-universe reasons that Gabriel could die in 1016, the character’s comic storyline also plays a factor. In the comics, Gabriel suffers a brutal death at the hands of Beta, the same man who is now currently leading the Whisperers. Also, episode 1015 was titled “The Tower” – an ominous name that lines up with the location of Gabriel’s death in the comics. Whether that is just a subtle nod to the comic book or a sign of things to come in episode 1016 remains to be seen, but either way, Gabriel is at risk in the season 10 finale.
