The Walking Dead alum Tom Payne and fiancee Jennifer Ackerman planned on a spring wedding, but they join countless couples forced to postpone their nuptials.

As people all over the world are forced to stay indoors to help flatten the curve in the fight against novel coronavirus, parties and major celebrations have been put on hold until it’s safe for groups of people to get together. The Walking Dead alum Tom Payne and his fiancee Jennifer Åckerman were forced to postpone their New York wedding this weekend, but as the man who brought Jesus to life says, “a wedding is something that can wait.”

Over the Easter weekend Payne posted on Instagram that his wedding to Åckerman, like so many other celebrations and events, has been postponed due to the threat of coronavirus.

Payne remains upbeat that the nuptials are something that can be done when things are once again safe: “Today there was going to be a wedding in New York. One of many I’m sure. Out of all the things that have changed a wedding is something that can wait. We have each other and that is more than enough. Love to everyone out there. Love is all we have. It’s enough for me.”

Payne announced his engagement to Åckerman on Talking Dead following episode 908, the episode that introduced the menacing Whisperers and saw the tragic demise of fan favorite Jesus.

Since his departure from The Walking Dead, Payne has been very busy headlining The Prodigal Son on FOX. The show has been one of the top new shows of the 2019-2020 television season, and with Payne front and center (along with TWD superfan and Fear the Walking Dead director Lou Diamond Phillips) fans have been able to keep a little Jesus in their lives on a regular basis. There is no question that Payne and Åckerman will make it to the altar as soon as it is safe to do so, but for now Payne’s message of “love is all we have” is all we need.
