Undead Walking played 20 Questions with Fear the Walking Dead executive producer Michael E. Satrazemis. Take a look at his insightful answers!

Michael E. Satrazemis has been tied to The Walking Dead Universe from the very beginning. We had a chance to play a little game of 20 Questions with the prolific director, who shared some insight as to how he spends his free time, his favorite foods and some of his favorite things about Fear the Walking Dead.

Satrazemis began his journey on The Walking Dead in 2010 when he worked as a camera operator in the first few seasons of the hit zombie show. These days he serves as the executive producer on Fear the Walking Dead, but he manages to get behind the camera as much as possible on both shows.

To date he has directed 10 episodes of Fear and 17 episodes of The Walking Dead, including memorable fan favorite episodes like “The Grove”, “Morning Star”, “Close Your Eyes” and “End of the Line”. He will be back behind the camera in Fear the Walking Dead season 6, and there’s no question he’ll be working on The Walking Dead season 11 when filming begins.

Michael E. Satrazemis Plays 20 Questions: Fear the Walking Dead Edition

What do you enjoy doing when you have free time?

Surfing, snowboarding and reading scripts. Whichever one is available at the time. I like the peace and silence you don’t get directing on a film set.

What is your favorite food?

Sushi and Mexican. Whichever is available.

Do you enjoy cooking or would you rather order out?

I love to cook. It’s a meditative game to create delicious food and time everything out perfectly.

What is your favorite evening beverage?

Sake

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

A sailor

If you could have a dinner party with 5 people from any point in history, living or dead, who would you choose?

Mother Teresa, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Jesus and Ghandi. This would be a great grouping and some amazing conversation.

What are your three favorite bands or musicians?

Leonard Cohen, Burning Spear and The XX

What was the last show you binge watched?

You (Netflix)

What is your favorite book?

Rotten by John Lyndon

Who is your favorite superhero or fictional character?

Wonder Woman and Peter Pan. I could even see them hanging out if Wendy was cool with it.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Eating so much Sushi I’m almost sick to my stomach. I treat it like Thanksgiving and eat too much of everything

Favorite Fear TWD episode of all time?

I think my favorite episode is in the new season 6

Favorite Fear TWD scene that you did not direct?

It’s in a season 6 episode Ron Underwood directed.

Favorite Fear TWD scene you directed?

One of my favorite scenes was the river cross from the season 5 finale. It was a massive undertaking but also just so beautiful to shoot.

Which actor from the Fear TWD cast would you most want to be stuck in an elevator with?

Alexa Nisenson. She could break us out. Plus she has an amazing singing voice and can play the Ukulele.

Which Fear TWD cast member makes you laugh the most on set?

The entire cast is super funny but Maggie Grace gets on a roll sometimes with really abstract humor. It catches me off guard and cracks me up.

Assign superlatives to 3 Fear TWD cast members of your choice

Jenna Elfman – Biggest Heart

Colman Domingo – Best Dressed

Alexa Nisenson – Most Prepared

Fear TWD cast members stay busy. What projects are you working on outside of Fear TWD?

Directing TWD

With everything going on in the world, what message do you have for fans?

To hang in with the ones you love the most. This will end. And we will get back to creating again more inspired than ever. We appreciate your support more than you know.
