Brandon

In my Survival Rule(s) Of The Week, I have, on occasion, mentioned that I find someone enjoying violence in the zombie apocalypse a dangerous behavior, the fact there could be someone like this guy is why.

Brandon was the son of a pair of Saviors, who died during the war with the communities, however, before that, he was given a very…rosy picture of the Saviors, how they operated, and especially, Negan, whom he viewed as some sort of folk hero.

And, while Negan isn’t the worst villain The Walking Dead has seen, he is certainly not a folk hero by any means, yet, that is how Brandon grew up seeing him. This means that, once Negan was freed, Brandon was happy to assist him (Or at least, assist his idea of Negan) and, that is his biggest problem.

Brandon is clearly, kind of a messed up dude. In spite of not only the things we know Negan did, but, the things Brandon himself knows Negan did, he still sees all of it as the exploits of a hero, even his (Erroneous) belief that Negan killed Carl. All of this, to him, is awe-inspiring, even when Negan himself wants to break away from that legacy. Like I said, he is clearly messed up.

His crowning achievement is when he kills Amelia and her young son, Milo, believing being sent away for suggesting robbing them was some sort of initiation. This would be bad enough on its own, but, the enthusiasm he has afterwards is chilling. He is enthralled by what he did, and equally pleased at the idea of being a new Savior. No remorse, no regret, not even a hint of questioning what he’d done, just joy at having done it.

That is why he’s higher on the list than Dante. At least when he killed Siddiq, Dante had some remorse. Not only did Brandon have no remorse for Amelia or Milo, but, I’m not even sure he had any to begin with.

If ever there was someone who deserved to be beaten to death with a rock…
