Former “Walking Dead” star Steven Yeun signs deal with Amazon Studios

The Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun has signed a deal to create television content for Amazon Studios.
Steven Yeun has come to an agreement on a “first-look deal” with Amazon Studios, in which he will work with the company to produce television shows that will launch on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service. While best known for his acting credits – most notably on The Walking Dead as fan-favorite Glenn Rhee – this deal will see Yeun contribute to the development and production side of television.
The deal focuses on Yeun’s work behind the camera, although he could put his acting skills to use if it is deemed necessary for the project.
As reported by Deadline, Yeun had the following to say about the deal:
"“I feel very fortunate and privileged in these times to be given an opportunity to tell more stories. I am humbled to be in such good company with the incredible talent at Amazon, and I am very much looking forward to collaborating with unique voices to tell stories that connect us.”"
Yeun already has an established relationship with Amazon Studios, having agreed to play the leading role in the upcoming Invincible, an Amazon Prime exclusive animated series based on comic books written by the creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman. That will not be Yeun’s first try at voice acting, as he has already played notable roles in shows such as Voltron: Legendary Defender, The Legend of Korra, and Trollhunters.
Yeun has carved out a successful career since departing from The Walking Dead, the role that brought him into the spotlight. Over the past few years, he has appeared in numerous critically-acclaimed films including Burning, Sorry to Bother You, and Okja, among others. Later this year, Yeun is slated to star in the upcoming adaptation of The Humans, alongside Amy Schumer.
Although he hasn’t been on the show since season 7, Yeun remains a very important member of The Walking Dead family. The show’s loyal fans will be sure to support his upcoming projects – both with Amazon and future films – with full force.
