The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlitz is on the hunt for a trifecta now that he has gone behind the camera on TWD and its spinoff World Beyond.

Newly released behind the scenes photos from The Walking Dead: World Beyond set reveal that The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlitz directed an episode of the new series, moving him one step closer to completing the TWD Universe Trifecta.

World Beyond showrunner Matt Negrete shared photos on Instagram that feature Cudlitz on the World Beyond set with stars Aliyah Royale and Hal Cumpston.

He also notes that Cudlitz, Royale and Cumpston are color coordinated.

Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo became the first cast member to go behind the camera, with Cudlitz following right behind him. Cudlitz has directed three TWD episodes to date, and now he will add an episode of World Beyond to his ever-growing resume.

If he directs an episode of Fear the Walking Dead, Cudlitz will be the first actor to direct the trifecta of all three shows in the TWD Universe.

Depending on when his World Beyond episode hits during the show’s freshman season, he could be one of the first to accomplish the feat. Both Greg Nicotero and Michael E. Satrazemis have episodes from TWD and Fear TWD under their belts and the odds are good that they both directed some of World Beyond’s first episodes, so it’s more than likely that Cudlitz will be the third person to join the TWD Trifecta Club.

Cudlitz is a natural director, taking on his new role with enthusiasm. The first episode he directed, “Stradivarius”, featured a big action sequence with Michonne and Magna’s group fighting a herd of walkers. In season 10, Cudlitz directed “Silence the Whisperers” (episode 1004) and “Open Your Eyes”(episode 1007). Both episodes were pivotal to the season 10 story and they provided Cudlitz with the opportunity to flex his directing skills.
