Fear the Walking Dead star Austin Amelio has been creating art on a theme, and he has been sharing his talent with fans on his social media.

One of the upsides of all of the time spent at home is that people have had time to develop new passions or spend time doing things they wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do. For Fear the Walking Dead star Austin Amelio, creating art in these uncertain times has been very therapeutic.

There’s a pattern to the portraits Amelio has been posting to Instagram over the past few weeks. They’re all portraits with bright colors and a very global cast of characters, and they’re all smoking.

There are men, women, animals. They’re all done in fantastic detail, and they’re all smoking.

Gaucho Smokin’:

Girl Smokin’ on a Cabinet. (In this case it’s literal, because it has been painted on a repurposed door:

French Woman Smokin’. (Jeffrey Dean Morgan suggested in the comments section that this one should be renamed “Smokin’ French Woman”):

The list goes on and on, with numerous paintings posted to date on Amelio’s Instagram.

As you can see, if he wasn’t such a talented actor, one look at his paintings and you might wonder why Austin Amelio isn’t a full-time painter. He has a natural eye for capturing the depth of emotion in his subjects.

Amelio’s Dwight disappeared from The Walking Dead at the end of season 8 after Daryl sent him away. Daryl told him to look for Sherry, but he was also sending Dwight away because he represented the Saviors and could never fully be trusted. Rather than lock him up, Dwight left, never to return again.

Dwight showed up in season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead, in Texas of all places. He took the same path that Morgan took to get there, only Dwight was following Sherry’s clues. He thought he’d found a dead end, but now it seems that Sherry might be alive and well with Virginia’s people.

Regardless of what happens in season 6, Dwight has finally found a new group of people to call his friends and family. Though things didn’t look good at the end of season 5, there’s every reason to hope that he will find a way to survive this setback and move on, with or without Sherry.

Fear the Walking Dead will return for season 6 this summer.
